Sarah Gammons San Miguel

Sarah Gammons San Miguel, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved member of the Lufkin community, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on October 13, 1966, Sarah’s life was defined by love, generosity, and a deep commitment to her family and community. Sarah was the proud owner of Nona’s and Papa’s Designs, where she poured her heart into creating personalized gifts and apparel. Her creativity and passion for crafts brought joy to many, and her business became a place of connection, support, and heartfelt expression. Known for her selfless nature, Sarah was deeply involved in her community, playing a vital role in organizing and supporting numerous fundraisers and local events that benefited a wide range of charitable causes. She earned her GED and went on to build a life full of purpose, marked by hard work, compassion, and the bonds of family. Sarah's impact reached far beyond her home — she was a trusted friend, a generous spirit, and a cornerstone of strength and kindness. Sarah was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Lee of Lufkin; father, Darrell Gammons of Lufkin; grandparents, Elsie and Mitchell Wheless of San Angelo; sister, Patricia Gammons Peel of Lufkin; brother, James Lynn Simmons of Huntington; sister-in-law, Carolyn Simmons of Huntington; and nephew, James Simmons Jr. of Huntington. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Joe San Miguel, and their cherished children: daughter Cassondra San Miguel Davis and son-in-law Thomas Davis; daughter Jamie San Miguel Garcia and daughter-in-law Jessica Garcia; and daughter Jennifer San Miguel Jaime and son-in-law Othoniel "Jay" Jaime. Sarah was a proud and devoted grandmother to Tristan Davis, Jacen San Miguel and his wife Isabell Gonzalez, Cruz Edwin San Miguel, Kayelee San Miguel, Elias Jaime, and Daisy Jaime, as well as a great-grandmother to Isael San Miguel, whom she adored. She is also survived by her siblings: Chester Gammons of Lufkin, Shirley Young of Huntington, and Jenny Johns of Huntsville, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who will carry her memory forward. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jacen San Miguel, Cruz San Miguel, Thomas Davis, Gilbert Chapoy, Robert Chapoy, Randy Chapoy, and Brandon Chapoy. Honorary pallbearers include Jessica Garcia, Othoniel "Jay" Jaime, Elias Jaime, and Isael San Miguel. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the community for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support, as well as Heart 2 Heart Hospice and the compassionate staff and nurses of the Woodland Heights ICU for their care in Sarah’s final days. Visitation will be held at Gipson Funeral Home on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Sarah will be laid to rest in Zavalla Cemetery. Sarah Gammons San Miguel leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering family devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
